Arrow’s expensive “call-up”
While we are still coming down from the effects of the Dragons party, looks like Jai Arrow didn’t learn a thing in Maroons camp.
He has been fined $35,000 and suspended for 2 matches (including next Wednesday’s Origin) for allegedly bringing a woman into camp, breaking the NRL COVID rules.
Not only fined the $35k, he misses out on the $15k match payment meaning that was one expensive visit.
Welcome aboard skipper
Originally selected as 18th man for Game 3, Dale Finucane was called into the lineup after Daniel Saifiti was ruled out.
Now today he was named as Vice-Captain for the Blues.
What a whirlwind few days for the big fella. Congrats.
Congrats Patty
Not footy related but congrats to Patty Mills who will become the first Indigenous-Australian flag bearer at the Olympics as he leads the country out alongside Cate Campbell.
Patty is a huge QLD fan as well, but despite that we still say congrats.
Broncos Gamble on Tyson
The Broncos have extended the contract of young half Tyson Gamble until the end of 2023.
“It’s unreal to re-sign with the Broncos – I love the way the club is going, the direction that Kev is taking us and I’m looking forward to the future,” Gamble said.
He will have the experience of Adam Reynolds join him next year, with the Broncos also re-signed Kobe Hetherington yesterday.
Raiders lock another young gun up
Matt Timoko has re-signed with the Raiders until the end of 2024.
“It’s great to be able to stay in Canberra, I love it here and I believe it’s the best place for my career,” Timoko said. “For me, at the moment I’m happy to do whatever I need to do to help the team and I’ll be working hard for the rest of this year and the next three to try and cement a place in the NRL side.”
Timoko has 4 NRL games to his resume so far, and will be sure to add to that in the next few years with the Green Machine.
