The Wrap – 7/7/21

Some of the big storylines around the NRL for Wednesday the 7th of July.

Origin-Castle

Origin in Newy. How bloody good!!!

Not only do NSW get to raise the shield in NSW, they get to do it in one of the strongest rugby league areas in the country.

Next Wednesday is going to be something special.

Any chance of a Silverchair comeback as pre game entertainment???

Some wholesome Raiders content

After a debut that only lasted 11 minutes due to an interchange mistake, young speedster Xavier Savage gets to make up for it this weekend as he makes his first NRL start at fullback.

The Raiders shared his jersey presentation today which included some special guests.

Cronk goes WHACK!!!

Plenty of talk from current and ex players on the actions of Paul Vaughan from the weekend after he hosted a party for 12 teammates, breaking NSW covid laws.

But for the sacked ex-Dragons forward, none would hurt more than those from 4 time premiership and Queensland/Australian representative Cooper Cronk who said “As a senior player that wanted to win competitions, I’d struggle to play with Paul Vaughan” on NRL360 tonight.

“You want to win comps that are built on character, trust, resilience.”

“If he’s gone against the law twice blatantly, you’d struggle to line up next to him in big games”

OUCH….

Dragons News

Plenty of news around the Red V, so will just drop it all here.

Dragons look to have signed Rabbitohs and Maroons player Jaydn Su’A with Lara Pitt reporting the deal as done.

George Burgess, who was released earlier this year from Wigan with a hip problem, is on the Dragons sights with Paul Kent reporting that “He’ll sign tonight”.

The Warriors have also loaned out Jamayne Taunoa-Brown to the Dragons on a 3 week deal as they look to get replacements for the 12 players they will have spread suspensions for.

Titans add experience

The Gold Goast Titans have added some experience to their pack for 2022 after they signed 2 time Roosters premiership winner Isaac Liu for 3 years.

TPJ to the Bulldogs???

Channel 7 reporter Chris Garry has reported that the Bulldogs are set to add Tevita Pangai Junior to their squad immediately.

Further news for the Bulldogs as they announced Jeremy Marshall-King has extended for 2 more years.

Bennett just can’t move on from his ex

Bennett just loves a sly dig at the Broncos.

Everytime a journo opens it up at a presser he takes his shot, and he’s done it again this time with Anthony Milford, after he was told by the Broncos that he wasn’t wanted in 2022.

“A smart club will sign Anthony Milford,” Bennett stated (via Fox Sports)

“If I was coaching next year and I had a chance to sign Anthony Milford, I would take him, that’s the best reference I can give to any NRL club.”

“Anthony has more to offer, I really believe that. In the right club, Anthony will succeed.”

Keep being Wayne….Wayne.
