England v Fiji Warm Up Recap

Well the World Cup is unofficially underway.

England and Fiji gearing up for their campaign with warmup match on a cold and rainy night in Salford.

Fiji missing plenty of talent including NRL Grand Final stars Koroisau, Kikau and Sivo, they were always going to struggle against a very strong English squad.

Despite the conditions, and my dreary eyes after a 5:30am start, the game started well with some nice back and forth action, but it didn’t long for England to kick into gear.

Working themselves into good field position early and some great ball movement saw young Dom Young get over in his first outing in the English kit.

From there it was all downhill for the Bati.

Andy Akers looked strong from dummy half, and picked up a loose offload from Luke Thompson to crash over in the 25th minute.

Then it was Dom Young SZN after a man of the match performance!!!

A couple of minutes of great play saw the young Knights winger setup his right side partner Watkins for a try, before breaking the line in the very next set, showing off his speed before giving the ball off to Williams for another England try.

Young and Watkins could be an issue over the next month.

28-0 at half time meant Fiji needed to come out strong in the second half to give them any confidence going forward.

Unfortunately the start of the second was worst than the first.

Beating the second half clock after 15 minutes with tries from forwards Thompson, McMeeken and Cooper, and Marc Sneyd looking like a sharpshooter with the boot, the game was well over after 55 minutes.

Victor Radley very strong in defence in his first outing for the Old Dart, looking like he had been there for years the way he was ordering the troops around the park on the ball as well.

Could the commentator be anymore pumped up after this hit???

Ryan Hall brought up the 50 for England as thy keep Fiji to nil for the game in a 50-0 rout.

Fiji with a lot to work on this week in the leadup to the Australian game next weekend.

My Way Too Early Tournament Prediction/Overreaction

Dom Young leading try scorer for the tournament. Get on him now!!!
