‘War of Words’ between former Blues

Former State of of Origin hardmen Paul Gallen and Mark Carroll have exchanged barbs this afternoon over suspended Sharks player Bronson Xerri.

Carroll called into Mark Levy’s show on 2GB to back his stance that Xerri should be banned for life, before launching into Paul Gallen.

“I can’t believe this kid did this and now (Paul) Gallen wants to back him and say it was OK.

“Are you cracking jokes? Mate you don’t take drugs. If you take drugs, you don’t play our game.”

“Simple as that. Gal got slapped on the wrist for what he did, he got away with it.

“This kid he’s going to have to pay the penalty.”

Gallen had his chance to go back at Carroll via 2GB

“It was a club-run program where players were duped and doped,” Gallen said of Cronulla’s 2011 supplements program.”

“I was one of sixteen players to have pleaded guilty, and I’ll bet you that goose couldn’t name another two or three other players.”

“I just love a big, tough guy with a big mouth.”

“I was with Mark Carroll probably three or four months ago doing a luncheon with me and he’s shaking my hand, best mates in my face, nice as pie and then wants to get on the radio and say things like that.”

“If you don’t like someone or think someone’s done the wrong thing, don’t shake their hand and be nice to them, be a man about it and say ‘you’ve done the wrong thing, I dont like you’.”

“I just think he’s a two-faced coward.”

Carroll tried to call back in to 2GB to go head to head with Gallen, but instead rang Fox Sports to unload

“It’s always got under my grill that Gal only missed a few games and a Kangaroo tour.”

“He was supposed to be the leader at Cronulla.”

“That’s not leadership, that’s throwing young blokes under the bus.”

“That’s the real definition of a coward.”

Expect more to come from this

Gallen’s next opponent maybe…
