Let It Ride Tips – Round 1
That’s right. FOOTY IS BACK BABY!!!
Unfortunately there will be no podcast for our dedicated Let It Ride podcast listeners, but instead will give my tips and picks via the blog each week, with the poddy back next week.
Lets get dancing!!!
EELS v STORM
What a cracker to kick us off.
Storm with some massive losses, and the Eels are without some of the starting 13, so it makes this one even more interesting to pick.
Every year in the first round the Storm’s streak gets brought up, and the thought that no one will end it.
But the Eels are Brock Lesnar, the Storm the Undertaker, and tonight will be Wrestlemania 30 as we see the streak end.
4 straight wins for the Eels against the Storm, at home where they have a 3-0 record against them as well.
I took them at $2.35 at the start of the week, and they are now firmed into $2.05. I expect them close to even at kickoff.
Pick:
– Eels H2H @ $2.35
Tryscorers:
– King Sivo @ $2.05 π
– Eliesa Katoa @ $4.30 Value
WARRIORS v KNIGHTS
There are games destined for this 6pm Friday slot. This is one of them.
Plenty of club debuts for both in this one. Could be 36-22 either way so I will take Warriors -5.5 but with no real confidence.
Knights have a losing record in New Zealand, with just 2 wins in their last 10 matches over there.
Knights last round 1 loss also came in 2017 against the Warriors.
But tread carefully here and maybe look at some tryscorers instead.
Pick:
– Warriors -5.5 @ $1.90
Tryscorers:
– Dom Young @ $2.05 π
– Lachlan Fitzgibbon @ $6.00 Value
PANTHERS v BRONCOS
Things that scare me: Horror movies, my kids sneaking up and scaring me in the office, and any team giving away 13+ points in the first round.
Yes its the defending, back to back, undisputed Champions of The World Australia, at home against the Broncos.
I…don’t…care.
Yes the Panthers win but see it being more of a grind than a blow out.
Both team have a lot to prove.
Panthers continuing on despite the player losses.
Broncos wanting to start well like last year but also maintain it.
Simply taking Panthers to win here.
Pick:
– Panthers to win @ $1.20
Tryscorers:
– Luke Garner @ $3.50 Value
SEA EAGLES v BULLDOGS
All aboard the Turbo Train!
The big man is back and that is great news for the Sea Eagles.
Initially listed as -2.5 point faves, they are now -4.5 and seem like a lock for a Saturday arvo win at Brookie.
Manly 8-2 against the Dogs in their last 10.
This will be a cracker as both teams will be around the same 7th-10th at the end of the season.
Pick:
– Manly -4.5 @ $1.90
Tryscorers:
– Olakauu’atu @ $2.90
– Kikau @ $3.60
[Both in a multi for $9.50]
– Weekes @ $2.70
– Burton @ $3.45
[Both in a multi $7.75]
COWBOYS v RAIDERS
Raiders in for one of the toughest, sweatiest road trips there is…a game in Townsville in March.
Cowboys went 9-3 in Townsville last year, while they are 11-3 against the Raiders there, including 4 from their last 5.
Cowboys with basically the same 17 as last year which saw them in the top 4, while no Papa up front and Kris at the back for the Raiders.
Let’s Ride Em Cowboys hey!!!
Pick:
Cowboys -8.5 @ $1.90
Cowboys 13+ @ $2.35 Little Value
Tryscorers:
– Taulagi @ $1.81 π
– Coen Hess @ $4.50 Value
SHARKS v RABBITOHS
I was all in on the Sharks at the price before I saw Hynes out and then I bauked.
I then saw that the Rabbits are just 12 from 47 overall at Shark Park, lost their last 4, and just 4 wins from their last 13 matches there.
Yes Hynes is a big loss, but Trindall comes in as a very handy replacement.
Are they really that bad without him?
I guess we will see but I think the weapons they have, and the price they are at, it’s worth a dabble.
I think Rabbitohs will be a force this year and my pick for the Minor Prem.
Just hope they do it after losing the first game.
Pick:
– Sharks H2H @ $2.50
Tryscorers:
– Cam Murray @ $5.70 Value
DOLPHINS v ROOSTERS
The historic one.
The Debut of the Dolphins.
Fun Fact: Out of all the QLD teams to debut in NSWRL/ARL/NRL, Brisbane were the only team to win the inaugural match. Chargers, Seagulls, Crushers, Cowboys, Titans all lost their opening match.
Again a massive line of -17.5 to the Roosters.
It is justified though.
First game for the Dolphins, they haven’t got the greatest side, up against a team many have picked for the premiership.
But I actually thing the Dolphin with 17.5+ is the bet.
They will fight and be in the match all game. They will want to put on a show.
The Roosters start slow, and even if they have a large lead, they may let in a late try or 2 and the Dolphins get the back door cover.
I’m getting behind the Dolphins.
Pick:
– Dolphins +17.5 @ $1.90
Tryscorers:
– Brandon Smith @3.05 Value
TIGERS v TITANS
3 words. AVOID AVOID AVOID!
2 teams I would not throw 50c at if I had a million.
Just leave this one, and look for some tryscorers.
I had picked an old fave of the show in Beau Fermor but he has been unlucky and gone down with an ACL injury today, and we wish him all the best.
Pick:
– Nothing……but maybe Tigers -2.5 @ $1.90
Tryscorers:
– Dave Fifita @ $3.05 Value
– Uncle Roasty
