Coates on the ‘united’ Broncos in 2021

In what was a season to forget for the Broncos, one of their shining lights of 2020 Xavier Coates is looking forward to 2021, describing the Broncos this year as ‘more united’ than last.

“There’s a real good feel around the club, it’s a good family environment. I feel like the clubs united again.” Coates told Joel Caine on 1170SEN on Friday.

Coates played under 3 coaches last year in his total of 14 senior games, with the Supercoach Wayne Bennett handing him his debut in the end of year Origin series. But it’s new Broncos coach Kevin Walters who has made an immediate impression on the young winger.

“I had a good break from Origin, first session he sat me down and said what his plan was for me, what he saw in me and what I was capable of and just told me what I need to work on”

“I have good mentors at the Broncos. We have a lot of ex legends that are coming back helping us out which is really good. I’m still learning my craft and excited for the 2021 season to begin.”

“I still feel like a rookie with something to prove. There is a really good feel about it.”
